You can REGISTER HERE to attend either in person or online. \nThis important annual event brings together local elected leaders from urban and rural communities across Canada to workshop practical local climate solutions. \nFollowing recent local elections in BC\, Manitoba\, Ontario\, PEI\, New Brunswick\, the Northwest Territories\, and the Yukon\, our summit will welcome climate leaders who are newly elected\, re-elected\, and those who have left public office\, but want to share their experience with us. Accordingly\, our keynote speakers\, former Vancouver Councillor\, Andrea Reimer and former Edmonton Mayor\, Don Iveson reflect the value of sharing ideas not only across the country\, but also from one council term to the next.\nOur agenda for this year will leave you feeling re-energized about taking action in your communities. Alongside our session partners\, Community Energy Association\, ICLEI\, and the Co-operators\, we will deliver keynotes\, workshops\, and networking to address emissions reductions\, energy transitions\, and resilience at the local level. Our Hybrid setup will allow participants to experience the same sessions in parallel\, whether they attend in-person or virtually. \nThis event will take place the day prior to BC’s Local Government Leadership Association conference\, which is also at the Radisson Hotel in Richmond BC. Black physical mobility in the US lead to adverse social\, political\, economic\, and health outcomes that are intergenerational and widespread. \nThis presentation will surgically examine the ways in which our approaches to research\, planning\, policy\, and design can and must be reimagined to achieve greater mobility\, health\, and safety for Black Americans. \n– \nBio: \nCharles T. Brown is the founder and principal of Equitable Cities\, a minority- and veteran-owned urban planning\, public policy and research firm focused at the intersection of transportation\, health and equity. DESCRIPTION:In December 2022\, The Somali Centre for Culture and Recreation\, in partnership with the Infrastructure Institute at the University of Toronto\, released a report entitled\, Inhibited Growth: Examining Public Investment Gaps in Black Infrastructure Needs. This report examines the gaps in public investment and access to Black-led social infrastructure that integrates community centres\, recreational spaces\, and cultural hubs across the City of Toronto.
