Atlantic Black Policy Conference 2023: Reimagining our Traditions through Black Communities in the Atlantic
The Atlantic Black Policy Conference is a representation of Black community-led and policy informed programming in Atlantic Canada, with an agenda that will be applicable to institutions that navigate and carry-out policies pertaining to Black communities. The aim of the ABPC involves building upon existing knowledge, and highlighting the advocacy surrounding policy development and implementation.
The inaugural Conference was held virtually in October 2021 under the theme Our Collective Voice. The theme for 2023 is Reimagining our Traditions through Black Communities in the Atlantic. This theme was selected to reflect on Black populations in the Atlantic region, their histories, ways of life, their forms of leadership, and to use the lessons learned to advise policy development and systemic change.
