Open Streets, Open Communities: Reclaiming Streets for People

hosted by Jiya benni

In the mobilizer session “Open Streets, Open Communities: Reclaiming Streets for People” hosted by 880 Cities, explore how the shift toward pedestrian and cyclist oriented streets space can contribute to the improved livelihood of cities and the wellbeing of individuals. Together with Jiya, this session hears from practitioners about their experiences with such projects – their effects on active living and mobility, and the challenges that come with implementation and community engagement.

Canada’s Placemaking Community builds capacity for national placemakers by sharing impactful stories, convening in-person and virtual events, and commissioning research. By fostering collective action, we aim to drive better public outcomes and create vibrant, equitable public spaces for all.
