Placemaking in Urban Parks: The Benefits of Connecting People with Nature

Discover the transformative power of urban parks and placemaking in shaping greener, more connected communities!

Join Park People, Canada’s only national, bilingual organization solely dedicated to championing city parks to explore how urban park-based placemaking can support the transition to equitable cities where people and the rest of nature thrive, while promoting community resilience and environmental sustainability.

Together, Centre d’ecologie urbain, Steps Public Art, and Environmental Youth Alliance will engage in an open dialogue alongside Park People to share their experiences with the benefits and barriers to activating urban parks.

Canada’s Placemaking Community builds capacity for national placemakers by sharing impactful stories, convening in-person and virtual events, and commissioning research. By fostering collective action, we aim to drive better public outcomes and create vibrant, equitable public spaces for all. Discover more projects in our community of practice and learn more about the benefits of community-led placemaking in the Power of Placemaking Research Report, developed in partnership with Happy Cities.
