As community foundations work towards reconciliation, land acknowledgements are one step in deepening our understanding the history on the lands where we live, work and play. As we work to adopt practices of land acknowledgement how do we do so in a way that is meaningful and has the potential to create change?
In this session, led by Future Ancestors, you will have the opportunity to dive into local Indigenous histories, learn about land acknowledgements, and how to situate your personal responsibility as someone who lives on Indigenous land. This session will walk you through the concepts of recognition, action, and practical steps on how to write and give an acknowledgement, plus you will leave with a guide to support you and your foundation write an authentic Land Acknowledgement.
This session is for all members of the community foundations network and is open to the broader public.
